Charlotte Motor Speedway - Recapping 10 Rounds of Summer Shootout

A long overdue recap of Summer Shootout as a whole!

It’s hard to encompass what the shootout is if you’ve never been part of it. You compete against 30-40 of the best cars in the country every Monday and Tuesday night for eight consecutive weeks to make up 10 rounds of competition. It’s a true testament to your equipment, skill, and mental toughness as a driver and as a family.

When we committed to all 10 rounds the main goal was to get Tryson some valuable seat time and an opportunity to better his race craft and skill. It’s safe to say we accomplished both of those things, and so much more.

From racing in the rain, overcoming mechanical issues, to competing against older drivers out there just for fun, learning to take ownership of his mistakes, and slowing down enough to listen to those who actually want to see him succeed, Tryson grew so much this summer as a driver and as a person. He even managed to pull off his first real win, a true testament to the work he put in and a highlight we’ll always remember from this summer.

There are so many people we have to thank who made this summer possible. MACC Door Systems, Lake Norris Chalets, ATA, SAG Wraps, Rollins Pest Control, Triune Trailers, and Cordell Motorsports for their support from Tennessee; Kevin Rollins, Conner Jones Racing, and Tyler Reif Racing for their guidance and coaching at the track; and Race Driven Performance.

We’ve enjoyed a few days back with our people in Tennessee, but we’re excited to be back at two of our favorite tracks this weekend, because this No. 5 team never really slows down.
